Matthew R. Willis

Matt Willis is a licensed funeral director and embalmer in the states of Ohio and West Virginia. He and his wife of 35 years, the former Letty Walker, are lifelong residents of Gallipolis. In 2001, they bought the funeral home from his parents, Cleeland and Wanda Willis, and became the owners.  They have two daughters, Brianne and Brooke. Brianne is a RN/BSN/MSN residing in Ashland, Kentucky and Brooke is a RN/BSN residing in Ashland, Kentucky.  Matt attended Rio Grande College and is a graduate of the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science and Liberty University. Matt is a member of the Gallipolis Rotary Club. He and his family are members of the First Baptist Church in Gallipolis, where he has served as a deacon.

Kent M. Shawver
Kent M. Shawver is a licensed funeral director and embalmer in the states of Ohio and West Virginia. He and his wife of 37 years, the former Lou Ann Willis, are life long residents of Gallipolis. They have three children: Betsy and her husband, Aaron Brown of Huntington, WV; two sons, Zach and his wife, Julie of Alliance, Ohio and Sam and his wife, Katie of Gallipolis. Kent attended Georgetown College and graduated from the Cincinnati School of Mortuary Science. Kent has been a 4-H advisor for the past 24 years and is  active in the agricultual community of Gallia County.  He is a member of the Childrens Services Board of Directors. He and his family are members of the First Baptist Church, where Kent serves as a member of the Board of Trustees.

Cleeland R. and Wanda Saunders Willis
Cleeland R. and Wanda Saunders Willis opened Willis Funeral Home in 1974. Prior to opening Willis Funeral Home, Cleeland worked for the Gallipolis State Institute as a licensed practical nurse. An Air Force veteran, Cleeland went back to school in 1969 to become a funeral director. Cleeland graduated from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in 1972. Wanda Willis was a retired elementary school teacher, having taught over 30 years; she went home to be with her Lord on February 7, 2016. Cleeland is a member of First Baptist Church in Gallipolis, Ohio and a member of the Gallipolis Rotary Club. They have two children,  Lou Ann Shawver and Matthew Willis; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

 

Letty Willis

Letty is not only the wife of Matthew Willis, but she is also the current office manager for Willis Funeral Home.  She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Education from Cedarville College and a Master of Science in School Counseling from the University of Dayton.  Using these degrees, Letty was a senior English teacher and guidance counselor in the Gallipolis City Schools for 30 years.  Letty serves as a member of the Marshall University Mid Ohio Valley Center Advisory Board, the Gallia Academy Alumni Association Board, and the Gallia County Retired Teachers Scholarship Committee.


Fred Morgan
Fred Morgan ia a life long resident of southern Ohio, along with his wife Jill and two daughters Kelly and Danielle. Fred is a 1986 graduate of the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. Fred has specialized in pre-planning funerals for the Willis Funeral Home for the over ten years. The number of families pre-planning each year continues to grow and helps to guarantee a successful future at Willis Funeral Home.

Teri McKinniss
Teri McKinniss retired as the office manager for Willis Funeral Home after seventeen years.
